Removing Barriers to Employment with the CQE and Record Sealing: A Training for Community Members
The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry is holding a PUBLIC training on the Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) and Adult Record Sealing. Formerly Incarcerated Persons and other Community Members are welcome to attend.
The CQE can benefit individuals with criminal convictions who cannot seal their criminal records but face significant barriers to employment. Record sealing is for individuals with eligible offenses incurred as an adult. Filing procedures and client eligibility requirements will be discussed during the training. Volunteer attorneys will be available onsite to assist with CQE applications. Disclaimer: Assistance with any application does not imply a client-attorney relationship and all workshop participants are responsible for consulting with their own lawyers about any legal matters.
All trainings will be held at the North Star Neighborhood Recovery Resource Center at 1834 E. 55th St, Cleveland, OH 44103. Presentations will begin promptly at 3:15 p.m. Please see below for the workshops agenda:
- 3:00 to 3:15 p.m.: Registration & Welcome
- 3:15 to 4:00 p.m.: Presentation on Record Sealing & The Certificate of Qualification for Employment
- 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Q&A with The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cleveland or the Public Defender's Office
- 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Assistance with the CQE Application
