The Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization (DSCDO) will present three films around Racial Equity and Inclusion at the Capitol Theatre (1390 W 65^th Street). Located in the heart of the Gordon Square Arts District, the Capitol Theatre is owned by DSCDO and operated by Cleveland Cinemas.

Films begin at 6:30pm and a $5 donation is suggested for admission. Immediately following each showing, guests are invited to proceed to the upstairs meeting room at XYZ the Tavern (6419 Detroit Avenue) where food will be provided so community members can gather and continue the dialogue (cash bar).

Films include:

March 13 - The Rape of Recy Taylor - In 1944 Alabama, African-American wife and mother Recy Taylor is gang raped by seven white men, and then bravely identifies her attackers.

April 17 - The Pruitt-Igoe Myth – This film explores the development and failure of a 1950s housing estate in St. Louis.

May 8 - The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 – This documentary compiles footage shot by Swedish journalists documenting the Black Power Movement.
