She has earned master's degrees in education and urban planning and is now finishing her doctorate after many years of alternate immersion in academia and the practice of community engagement.

Nicole McSpirit, Safe Streets and Active Mobility Advocate

Nicole is relatively new to the world of mobility advocacy. Although she frequently used a bike for transportation while growing up in New Orleans and now in Denver, the climate crisis and epidemic of traffic violence compelled her to become involved in community activism. She promotes walking, biking and transit use as a means of fighting climate change, mitigating socioeconomic and racial inequalities and combating the multitude of negative health and mental impacts of a car-dominated sedentary lifestyle.
