Join the Watershed Volunteer Program to learn about NYC's top-notch drinking water supply, which delivers 1 billion gallons of water per day to over 9 million customers. John Schwartz, Chief of Watershed Lands & Community Planning for NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection, will share a brief history of this system and discuss balancing upstate and downstate needs.  Topics include salt storage, pollution prevention plans, wastewater management, stream restoration, strategic acquisition, forest & farm management, public recreation, education grants and community revitalization.
