What is 100% Clean and Renewable Energy?
One of the goals of our Cleveland Climate Action Plan includes reaching 100% of electricity demand from clean, renewable energy by 2050. In the environmental world, this is sweetly shortened to 100RE. To help us achieve this goal, we released Cleveland’s Clean and Equitable Energy Future report a few weeks ago, which is an action-oriented roadmap the City can follow for successful implementation of the 100% clean energy transition by 2050.

In 2015, the City of Cleveland committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) to work towards achieving our climate goals. As Cleveland implements its climate commitments, our progress is recognized by a system of GCoM badges shared with the global community. In 2020, Cleveland successfully received all compliance badges for reporting progress on targets and plans for mitigation, adaption, and access to clean energy.
