NOACA Lunch & Learn: Racial Equity in Planning
Planners in the United States have played central roles in carrying out urban agendas that reproduce racial inequity. Segregation, disinvestment, and siting toxic facilities in communities of color are objectionable legacies and yet common planning outcomes. Yet, planners are visionaries of their cities who can mobilize resources to reach social justice goals, and there is now a movement to right inequities of the past.
Moderator: Valarie J. McCall, Chief of Communications, Government & International Affairs, City of Cleveland
Panelists:
-
Ronnie A. Dunn, Ph.D., Chief Diversity Officer and Assoc. Professor of Urban Studies, Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University
-
Blaine Griffin, Cleveland Councilman, Ward 6, and Member of NOACA's Board of Directors and Planning & Programming Committee
-
Kathryn Hexter, Retired Director of Cleveland State University’s Center for Community Planning and Development
