From the beginning, the Nature Center has been a place to celebrate the beauty and natural surroundings that are central to the identity of the Shaker community. Since 1983, our signature All People's Trail has offered picturesque views of our marsh and stream habitats and has been key to fulfilling our mission of education and conservation. The Center is thrilled to now be completing an exciting renovation of this iconic trail.

The reconstruction of the All People's Trail and the restoration of surrounding native habitats will ensure the treasured Nature Center remains a state-of-the-art outdoor classroom with expanded learning opportunities and spaces for quiet and reflective moments in nature.

Kay Carlson, President and Chief Executive Officer, of the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, will lead the Grand Opening Remarks and Announcements, presentation of the Volunteer of the Year award, and introduce David Lindo, who will talk about his passion for Urban Birding. Later, David and Julie will greet visitors at the All People's Trail Birding Station scope, answer questions, and provide tips to visitors about how to get started urban birding. The Nature Center Gift Shop will have a limited supply of the book, "How To Be an Urban Birder" by David Lindo for purchase and author signing.
