The Summer Rain Barrel Program is a collaborative program providing City of Cleveland residents with rain barrel systems free of charge.
In an effort to reduce stormwater runoff, help residents save money and engage Cleveland youth, the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability has partnered with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), the Mayor’s Youth Summer Employment Program (YSEP), local Community Development Corporations (CDCs) and the Cleveland Division of Water (CWD) to employ City of Cleveland high school students to assemble and distribute the rain barrels to City residents.
Who is eligible to participate?
The Summer Rain Barrel Program is open to all homeowners in the City of Cleveland. In order to participate, residents must:
• Live in the City of Cleveland and be able to provide proof of home ownership (if required)
• Complete the required program paperwork by July 1st, 2016
• Have a 2”x3” rectangular downspout on their home/garage that is not visible from the street, and drains to a storm sewer
• Install the free downspout diverter prior to rain barrel delivery
