Join Dr. Deborah Fleming for a lecture on natural and human histories of the Allegheny plateau and hill country in Ohio's eastern counties.

An impassioned call for recognizing and preserving the ecological wonders of the Allegheny Plateau, Fleming delves into life on a farm, impacts of the mining and drilling industries, fox hunting, homesteading families, and lives of agriculturalists Louis Bromfield and John Chapman (better known as Johnny Appleseed) after living in rural Ohio and caring for its land for decades.

Though rarely categorized alongside Yosemite National Park, The Grand Canyon, the lush Northwest, or rocky coasts of New England, Ohio's unique and beautiful environment deserves to be celebrated alongside more dramatic locations.

Fleming's book Resurrection of the Wild discusses natural and human histories in fourteen interrelated essays, blending her personal experiences with scientific and literary research on the Allegheny Plateau and hill country in Ohio's eastern counties.
