Harmful Algal Bloom Workshop
Join the RSC on Saturday, September 29th to increase your knowledge about Harmful Algal Blooms (HABS). You will learn how to identify, analyze, and report a HAB. This workshop will also help you learn how to correctly convey information to your friends and family about HABs and their dangerous impacts to human and animal health.
Workshop topics will include:
- The science behind HABs
- Learn everything you need to know to keep your friends and family safe and informed of the risks HABs pose to humans and pets
- How to sample a HAB
- Protective gear, sampling methods
- HAB Identification
- Field and laboratory identification
- HAB analysis
- Become more familiar with the techniques used by the RSC to analyze for HABs and their toxins
- HAB Reporting
- What to do if you see a HAB
