Get into the water now! Come learn about soil science and water quality at Highbanks Metro Park.

 

Participants will explore how the Ag industry is improving soil integrity and water quality. These lessons address Ohio Science Standards in 7th and 8th grade science, Biology, and Environmental Science.

 

  • How do we connect our students to water and soil quality?
  • Why are clean water and healthy soil important to our future?
  • How can our students explore the importance of agricultural science as it relates to our ecosystems?
  • How is agriculture helping to create clean water around the state?
  • How will agricultural careers shape our students' future?

 

Network with industry and fellow educators, practice a variety of labs focused on water and soil science, and connect agriculture to your classroom. Here's the agenda:

 

  • Soil and sustainability: texture and structure, nutrient testing, lawn chemicals and edge of field impact
  • Lunch: Industry experts discuss the importance of technology in agriculture as it relates to soil and water quality
  • Water quality: chemical tests, biotic sampling, and quality conclusion
