In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, Dr. Ray's Energy & the Environment Speaker Series has invited Dr. Patricia DeMarco to speak on The Rights of Nature. Dr. DeMarco is a professor, author, researcher and councilwoman. Her book Pathways to our Sustainable Future, A Global Perspective from Pittsburgh will be available for sale before the talk.

 

Dr. DeMarco is senior scholar at Chatham University in Pittsburgh and an elected official, serving as Vice President of the Forest Hills Borough Council, Pennsylvania. She is also a former executive director of the Rachael Carson Homestead Association and director of the Rachel Carson Institute at Chatham University. DeMarco has spent a thirty-year career in energy and the environmental policy in both private and public sector positions. In 2017 she was honored with the Freudenburgh Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
