Defining the Green New Deal-Providing Fair Health Care
What is the Green New Deal all about? What issues do we need to address to make this resolution a reality?
West Shore FACT is presenting a speaker series on Climate Crisis and the Green New Deal. House Resolution 109 was introduced last February by Representative Alexandria Ocazio-Cortez (D-NY) and a matching resolution was introduced in the Senate by Senator Ed Markey (D-MA). It’s called the Green New Deal because, just as America rallied to defeat war rivals in World War 2, our country must rally to meet the threat of catastrophic climate change today.
The Resolution calls for America to transition to renewable energy, retrofit buildings for energy efficiency, fix crumbling infrastructure, build clean industries, invest in electric vehicles and high-speed rail, fix broken inner city neighborhoods, guarantee not for profit healthcare, provide opportunities to earn a living wage for everyone, support locally organized projects, and preserve the biodiversity of our natural areas.
