The goal of the program is to build awareness on topics that affect our environment and the communities in which we live, allowing us to be better stewards in protecting and preserving our natural resources. Join Harvey Webster, retired Chief Wildlife Officer and Emeritus Ambassador from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, for our first program in this series, Conservation Conversation: Lights Out Cleveland.

Lights Out Cleveland is an initiative to turn off building lights during spring and fall bird migration. Collisions with manmade structures accounts for more than half a billion bird deaths in the USA each year. In Cleveland, many of these birds end up in the ornithological collection of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, while a large number are rehabilitated and released due to the efforts of a mighty group of early morning volunteers. Learn why it’s vital to turn off these lights, the grave impacts to our avian friends and what you can do to help.
