A New Era of Justice
"The opposite of poverty is not wealth. The opposite of poverty is justice,” Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative.
The COVID-19 pandemic has proved devastating for many across the country, but due to disinvestment and systemic policies, African Americans and communities of color have been disproportionately affected.
As Cleveland Public Library (CPL) celebrates 152 years of service to the community, it continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of residents. The system's new strategic plan focuses on equity and prioritizes a vision aimed at creating a city where opportunity is available to all.
Join us as CPL, together with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority and the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP, discuss the historical and racial inequities in Cleveland and how their respective institutions are working to usher in a new era of justice.
