Earth Month Celebrations 2022

Sustainable Cleveland and partners invite you to celebrate the one place we all call home, Earth. Throughout the month of April, we're excited to host and participate in several in-person & virtual events that focus on the urgent need for sustainability, environmental justice, and climate solutions.

The City of Cleveland is committed to advancing climate action and our work centers around the 28 climate goals outlined within the Cleveland Climate Action Plan. In 2021, the City achieved national recognition as a LEED Silver Certified City showcasing the efforts of addressing community needs and its long-standing dedication to improving quality of life through sustainability and climate action. This Earth Month, we'll highlight the local organizations, businesses, artists, and initiatives that support the acceleration of climate progress.

Join in the celebrations by participating in one of the many events happening this Earth Month! 🌎

Take the pledge to save water, reduce pollution at mywaterpledge.com for your chance to win prizes, including a $3,000 towards household utility bills. You will not only be helping our city win but also helping us do our part in protecting our planet and don't forget to spread the word!

Walk n' Talk Sustainability

Do you know what Sustainability means? Join us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during your lunch break to learn about the sustainability efforts happening in Cleveland like the Rain Garden on the corner of East 9th and Lakeside Avenue and the hybrid and all-electric cars in the Willard garage. For a special event, on April 29th grab your walking shoes and camera to snap your photo for the City Nature Challenge! Meet us at the front entrance of City Hall at noon.

Earth Month Events

Native Plants & Arbor Day

First celebrated in 2020, Ohio was one of the first states in the nation to dedicate an entire month to the celebration of native plants. In 2022, we celebrate the first National Native Plant Month recognizing the importance of native plants to environmental conservation and restoration, as well as in supporting a diversity of wildlife.

Many organizations throughout the Cleveland region are planning Earth Month events. Check out our community events calendar for other fun activities celebrating our communities and environmental action.
