A key component of Mayor Frank G. Jackson's Sustainable Cleveland initiative is the annual summit. This event brings together a diverse group of people vested in and dedicated to Cleveland to use their vast knowledge and imagination to create an action plan for building a green economy for Cleveland’s future.

The 9th Annual Sustainable Cleveland Summit will begin on Wednesday, September 27th at 2:00pm with remarks from Mayor Frank G. Jackson, a presentation on the state of Sustainable Cleveland, and an opportunity for everyone to contribute to planning for culmination of the initiative in 2019. Mark Tercek, President and CEO of The Nature Conservancy, will deliver a powerful keynote address before the reception begins at 5:30pm.

September 28th will be a full day of visioning, design, and action planning focused on:

  • Celebrating the Year of Vibrant Green Space and working to continue its expansion;
  • Developing plans for the Year of Vital Neighborhoods in 2018;
  • Updating the Cleveland Climate Action Plan, which incorporates the topics of: Energy, Water and Land Use, Community Engagement, Waste, and Transportation; and
  • Focusing on what we can accomplish by June 22, 2019, the 50-year anniversary of the infamous Cuyahoga River fire.
