Learn about our local waterways, how we assess their quality, and how they impact the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie.

Choose from 3 dates (below). Meet at one of three Cleveland Public Library branches for a short presentation followed by a narrated tour to Memphis Picnic Area in Cleveland Metroparks’ Big Creek Reservation. Big Creek, running through the west side of Cleveland, is a major tributary to the Cuyahoga River.

In the park we’ll collect water samples, and measure and compare the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the East and West branches of Big Creek with professionals involved in watershed
stewardship.

Bring rubber boots if you have them and be ready to get your feet wet (only if you choose). Have fun as citizen scientists!
